Touch Of Grey ( a story about what we deal with)

The song was always the same, same rythym, same beat, same sound. It was all too familar, the sound ringing through his ears and into his memory, something he tried to object. He shook it off and walked with patience and stride down the side walk. The board was slipping through his grasp, so he stopped to pick it up again. He continued down the walk and reached the boards that led to the sand, when he got to the sand he stopped to re-group. He sat down, eyes hazy and observant. He ran his hand through the sand and looked up at the sky. A flock of sea gulls was passing and the sun had just risen above the hidden horizon. The tide crashed in and rolled out. It was just a normal morning to him but to anyone else it would be beautiful and tranquill but he saw past it. He stood up grabbed his board, waded into the water, jumped on the board and paddled out. Waves came in abundance unlike usual, he only caught 3 or 4 good ones and paddled in. He walked up to the boarded deck and showered off himself and his board. The water smelled horid, like rotten eggs, but he would have it no other way, he had learned to love this smell. He walked back home and walked in the door. His mother quickly ran to the door where he had just entered and scolded him,"why did you tell me where you were!?!?", he responded,"you were asleep.". she looked at him in a confused way and he just walked on leaving her shaking her head in complete ashtonishment. He walked past the living room and paused to glance at the tv. Once again on the news another murder and another crime, another dead at war. "All bullshit, it is.", and he shook his head in disagreement and embarassment. He walked up the stairs to his room and shut the door behind him. He sat down on his bed, grabbed the remote and turned on the television. After seeing nohing but more 'bullshit' he turned it off. He rolled over to his computer and turned on some music. Layed back in bed and sat and thought about everything. Before he knew it, it was dinner time. Once again he walked down the stairs with no apparent personality. The aroma grabbed him by his shirt collar and wouldnt let go. Suddenly a new rush of adrenaline came over him, but he wouldnt speed up. The smell only grew wilder and freely, without putting up a fight he gave in. There was nothing like steak and macoroni and cheese and his favorite baked potato. Once again to anyone else this would be different than what is was to him. He ate and slept...In the middle of the morning or night, he didnt know, he got up and walked downstairs to get a glass of water. He drank one glass, two glasses and it led to seven glasses of water. He walked back upstairs, and went back to bed.

The same sound was breaking through his dreams and distracting his peace. It was monday morning and he had school, another task he saw as 'bullshit'. He showered got dressed and everything else a kid would do to get ready for school. He walked down to the corner and waited for the bus. Once the bus was there, well of course he got on it. He took his seat next to Rex. Rex started to talk,"How was your weekend? Catch any waves?", and he answered,"my weekend fucking sucked but I did get some waves in".

"Whyd it suck?".
"cause sophie wasnt around to hang out with".
"Did you call her?".
"nah, I dont like calling her".
Rex paused...
Rex broke the silence, "It was so fucking boring this weekend".
"Well no shit, were stuck in this boring town with nothing to fucking do"
Jake leaned up over the back of the seat, "I cant wait to get the fuck out of here, just go do some stuff on my own, maybe move out to Los Angeles, who knows"
He said, "Yeah I know what you mean, just get the hell out of here and go far as I possibly can"
Rex jumped in,"So what are you guys doing today after school?"
they both answered,"nothing"
"wanna do something?"
john said, "sure, how about you, shawn?"
he replied, "give me something worth doing and I'll do it."
Rex paused and thought, and spoke again, "I heard theyre having that huge party on the corner of A1A and Ocean Ave"
Shawn automatically spoke up, "crash it?"
Jake raises his voice "sounds good to me!"
"I dont know if Soph would like that."
Rex laughed, "who the fuck cares what she thinks, come on, get over it, damn"
"okay okay, Ill go but no one specially' soph, okay?"
"okay"
"okay"
